Mondays are supposed to be Matt's day off. Ya, right. That hasn't happened yet this year. And this past Monday was no exception. Due to other things happening later on in the week, he spent a lot of Monday studying and preparing for the messages this weekend. Then, on Monday night, he had to go visit with some people in our church, one of which was our church treasurer. We have our annual business meeting (yes, we only have ONE business meeting a year!) tomorrow night, so Matt had a bunch of stuff to go over with him for that. He was gone until 11 that night. Then, Tuesday Libby had her 12 month well baby check-up. She is healthy and doing well. Tuesday night was youth group, so Matt was gone for that. I was unable to go and won't be able to go as much now due to lack of a babysitter.
Wednesday was typical Wednesday stuff, including prayer meeting. We were out later at church because we had a little "party" with cake and ice cream for someones birthday. Then, bright and early Thursday morning I had a CT scan at the hospital. Right when Matt and I were getting up to go to that (about 6:30 in the morning), I got a text message from my friend, Andrea. She is the one with the brain tumor. She was supposed to start her treatments on Wed., but the moved it to Wed. of next week. Anyways, she texted me to tell me that she was in the hospital with a blood clot. So, while I was having my scan, Matt went to visit her and her hubby, and I came as soon as my test was done. Come to find out, she not only has 3 blood clots (one in her lung) but now has pneumonia! Bless her heart! She was in a lot of pain and on pretty powerful pain meds. This poor girl is having a rough time. But through it all, she is trying to keep a positive spirit. Please pray for her! She has a 6 year old and a 10 year old, as well as her husband. We spent some time with them, then headed home so Matt could get ready for our kids' program that afternoon. Liam and Matt went to Kids' Alive, came home for supper, then Matt headed out again to do some visiting.
Friday afternoon I spent at the hospital with Andrea. Her hubby had to go to work, and her mother was taking care of the girls, so I went to be with her so she wouldn't have to be alone. Its terrible to be in the hospital and have to be alone! I was there until 5, then came home and Matt rushed off to attend a men's conference at a local Bible school. He was there last night until after 11 p.m., then left again for the conference just before 7 this morning. He came home from that at 5 p.m., when we left to go to church so he could show a lady in our church how to do the bulletin. Praise the Lord we finally have some help, and Matt no longer has to worry about the bulletin! That is now just one less thing he will have to worry about!
And in between all that, I have been doing school each day with Liam (even today - Liam wanted to go to school! He really likes it! :-) ), as well as working my job - doing the bookwork for my father-in-law. I need to get all that stuff done so we can turn everything in to the accountant, so he can then give us our stuff, so then Matt and I can get our taxes done!
So now it is Saturday night, and I am finally getting to sit down to blog. Its been one of those weeks. I am looking forward to hopefully getting to have Matt home more next week. I have sort of felt like a single parent this week - especially every night putting the kids to bed on my own. But, that is how the ministry is sometimes.
Thankfully the kids were not too bad this week. Well, they were not too bad on every day except Wednesday - but we won't go there. There were times I thought they would drive me crazy - like today when they got into the peanut butter (my kids like to eat spoonfuls of pb - as do I!) and throughout the day I have found globs of peanut butter everywhere - including on my bed! Oh, and while I was talking to my parents in Skype, Liam "accidentally" sprayed Leila in the face with Febreeze air refresher. Sigh. The life of a parent! But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Oh, speaking of which, if you haven't seen this, you have GOT to see this video by Toyota Sienna called the "Swagger Wagon." It is absolutely hilarious! I love it and laugh every time I see it! I will leave you with that! Enjoy your Sunday!
Until next time...
