Love Songs, Day 2

Ready for Day 2 of my favorite love songs?  Here it is...

Until next time....

Love Songs, Day 1

So, my whole posting every week thing hasn't gone too well, has it?  Ya, maybe soon I will get back to it.  We have a lot of major things going on right now, so I don't have much time for blogging.  Hopefully soon, though.  But, for now, I thought I would just do a fun little thing.  We are coming up on our 8th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.  I can't believe it!  Time flies!  We have done a lot in those 8 years.  We have had our joys and excitement, and our sorrow and trials.  But through it all, we have grown closer together and deeper in love.

So, I thought, leading up to Tuesday, I would post a series (ideally one a day) of "Love" songs that I like! So, without further ado, one of my favorite love songs...

(By the way, Matt has sorta made me a fan of country music.  Shhh... don't tell anyone!) :-)

Until next time....

Sunday's Song

Starting a new thing on here.  Each Sunday (if possible) I want to share a song that Matt and I enjoy.  Some will be worship "spiritual" songs, while others will be fun long-car-ride songs.  Hope you enjoy them like we do!

Today's song - "Our God" by Chris Tomlin.

Until next time....

Stuff I Like #3

Wow!  Two posts in one day!  I'm on a roll! :-)

Its time for another installment of Stuff I Like!  This one is something that my mother introduced me to and I just love them.  Now, to some this may not be all that exciting, but to me it is great!  So, what it this great "something" you may ask?  Well, it is.......... dishcloths!  Ha!  Yes, I know, not all that great, but to someone who spends a lot of time cleaning, these are great.  Click on the link to see more about them.

Clorox Dish Cloths

My mom has used these for a long time and when she was here to help me with the new baby in January, she got me some.  Now, supposedly they are supposed to be anti-bacterial or something like that.  I don't know how they work exactly but I love them.  What sets these apart from the other dish cloths is that they are specifically made to resist foul odors that tend to take up residence in our dish cloths.  You use them just like normal, and wash them just like normal.  Except that about once a month or so, you soak them in Clorox for about 5 mins and then throw them in the washer and Viola!  They are all nice and white again and do not smell bad at all!  I love it!

In reality, I guess you can do this with your other dish cloths too, but then you run the risk of having them change to all different colors and look all weird.  But these cloths look like brand new after they are soaked and washed.  Every time I use them (which is pretty much every day!) I think of how much I love them and how they don't stink like some of my others.

So there you go, another thing that I like.  Take it or leave it.  Hmmm... I just realized that most of the Stuff I Like that I have done so far have to do with cleaning.  Can you sense that I do a lot of that?  :-)

Until next time...

Stuff I Like #2

Its that time again - time for me to let you know of another product that I use and really like.  Today, I am "featuring" my FAVORITE bathroom cleaner - Scrubbing Bubbles!  I actually had never used this until we got married, and Matt told me he used to use it for cleaning his bathroom at school and he loved it.  So, we picked some up and it was love at first cleaning!  They have several different types of cleaner, and the first one I tried was the regular old foaming spray bathroom cleaner, then I moved on to the automatic shower cleaner, then the flushable toilet brushes, and then to the toilet cleaning gel.  And I love all of it, although I have not use the automatic sprayer lately (I still love it, though!).

Scrubbing Bubbles' catch phrase is, "We work hard so you don't have to!"  and that is the truth!  It is not just some cute little saying to add on to the end of their commercials - you really don't have to work that hard to clean after you spray!  I just spray my whole bath/shower down with the spray, and the sink, and let it sit there for about 5 mins, and then come back and wipe it down with a wet cloth and rinse.  It takes off all the scum without me having to get down on my knees and such and scrub, which is not the easiest on my back.  And when it is dry, I never find any residue or yucky spots left like I used to with other products.

I also use the flushable toilet brushes.  I don't know about you, but I would rather do many, many other things than clean the toilet.  It is utterly disgusting to me - always has been.  But, it needs to be done, so I do it.  The reason I love the toilet brushes is because they already contain the cleaner in them, so I don't have to buy extra of that, and, once I am finished cleaning, I just release the brush and away it goes down the tubes.  Aren't "old fashioned" toilet brushes that you use over and over absolutely revolting?  I sure think so!

So there, my friend, are my favorite bathroom cleaners.  They really aren't any more expensive than the other cleaners, and I can always find coupons for them - often right in the package they come in! And they do a MUCH better job than anything I have ever tried.  It would take a whole lot to convince me to switch from Scrubbing Bubbles.  Give it a try if you never have!

Until next time....

*This is purely my opinion on this product, and is not an official review of it.  I have not been asked in any way to promote it by anyone.

Stuff I Like #1

So, I have three kids.  Ya, you knew that, but I needed to remind you anyway.  I have three kids who are just like all other kids - they love to play, they love to run, and most importantly, they love to make messes. Now, Liam, my sweet, handsome boy and eldest, manages to keep his messes to merely toys being scattered all over the floor - usually in his room.  This I can deal with.  That kind of mess is easy because he can clean it up himself.  But my two girls are another story.  They like to make messes of a different sort.  Oh, Leila does her fair share of leaving toys out (although she tends to spread them ALL over the house), but she is a pro at making a mess of herself and her clothes during any and every meal.  This girl can get strawberry jam in places I didn't even know she had! :-)  She is always a mess after a meal - sometimes I just have to take her straight to the bath.

Libby doesn't play with toys just yet, and she doesn't eat strawberry jam just yet, but she still manages to make HUGE messes with none else than her POOP!!!!  Of my three kids, I have had the most trouble with her getting her poop all over her clothes, blankets, sheets, car seat, swing, etc.  I have tried several different brands of diapers, I am always checking her diaper is put on right, I change her as often as needed, and still, she manages to get poop all over herself and clothes.  She, too, has been given unplanned baths on many occasions.

Now, with these messes that my daughters make comes one annoying and hard to deal with problem - stains.  If you have ever had a baby, you know that their poop is not quite "normal" in color and texture compared to adults (sorry about getting detailed and graphic, but it is necessary for my purpose!).  So, she often gets these lovely yellow stains all over her onesies.  I, like most moms, double layer my babies with a onesie under their outer clothes.  She manages to stain not only the underneath onesie, but the top one too, as well, as her pants AND socks.  Leila manages to get jam and other sundry items all over her shirts, pants AND socks as well, too.  With all the messes they make, I would have to have bought them both a whole new wardrobe by now if it weren't for this first product of stuff I like.  If it weren't for this, I just don't know what I would do.

So, what is this wonderful, stain removing, sanity keeping product your may ask?  I'll tell you.  It is none other than.....

Fels-Naptha!

Oh, I just LOVE this stuff!  Now, first I must tell you that I am laughing because we always tease my mom about this stuff.  Fels-Naptha has been around for many, many moons, and my mom has use it for many, many moons.  She used it on all of our baby clothes, among other things.  So I am laughing because my mom is always talking about how she is going to use Fels-Naptha, or how we should use it, etc.  But, as much as we laugh about it, it is really great stuff.

I am not exactly sure what it is about it that works so great, but it is wonderful.  I use it on all of my stains and it gets everything out.  Now, if the stain has been there for like a year, it probably won't work, but I have used it on some of Libby's poop stains from three days prior and it still has gotten everything out!  Leila's strawberry jam stains come out just fine.  Blueberry, blackberry too.  I have used Fels-Naptha on other things too.  When Matt and I were living in our trailer, and we were painting the bedrooms - and we got some paint on beige carpet - I used it and viola, the paint was gone.  It even got RED paint out of the carpet!  This stuff is great!

There is also a great recipe for homemade laundry soap (which, by the way, is the same soap the Duggars on 19 Kids and Counting use - just FYI!)  that uses Fels-Naptha which I have made and used often, as well as my sis-in-laws, and it is great stuff.  Two other awesome things about it are:  it smells very nice - fresh and clean - and it is also very, very inexpensive!  I believe in most places one bar (which lasts me several months) is only just over $1!!!  How can you beat that!

So, the first product I wanted to feature was Fels-Naptha.  Try it.  I am pretty sure you like it.  If you don't let me know, and I will tell you to try it again!  It is really and truly "Stuff I Like!"

Until next time...

Stuff I Like

When Matt and I first began to "talk" and get to know each other, we asked each other all sorts of questions.  He was very creative in many of the questions he asked, but sometimes he was more confusing than creative!  Anyways, one of the questions he asked me was, "So.  Do you like stuff?"  I'm pretty sure I gave him the "raised eye-brow because I think you have gone loopy' look, then asked him to repeat the question.  He repeated it, and I asked him if it was a trick question.  He said it wasn't, to not read into it.  I then asked him what "stuff" was and he just said, "You know, stuff.  Its not that hard of a question!"  Well, I am still not sure I totally get it, but he still asks it sometimes.  (By the way, my answer eventually was, "yes, I like stuff."  I mean c'mon!  Who doesn't like stuff?)

I was thinking of that the other day, then got an idea for my blog.  I read a lot of different blogs of a lot of different people.  Some are very interesting, some mildly, and others I only come across probably one time.  But I do find it interesting to see what everyone is talking about in their blogs.  But one thing I notice is that alot of them are the same.  Mine included.  They are either solely for devotional purposes (which there is nothing wrong with that - don't get me wrong), or they are all about the people's kids (again, nothin' wrong with a little bragging on your kids!), or they are all about saving money (always a good thing), or they are about crafts or recipes.  All of these I find interesting, but I wanted my blog to be a little different.  But I can't think of anything!  Haha!  But I did want to add a few new things to it, rather than it just being about me (and occasionally Matt) rambling on about our lives here in the northeast.  I already told you about the book reports that I was going to do (which the first one is coming soon!).  And now I am going to try another new "segment" called "Stuff I Like."

If you are anything like me, you rarely go to the store and just randomly buy a new product that you see without having heard anything about it.  And I don't just believe what "they" (who are they, anyway?) say on t.v about a product.  I usually go by what people I know say about something.  There is one time that I impulsively bought a product while at Wal-mart - and it turned out to be a very, very big flop.  You can read all about that here

So, I thought I would occasionally highlight some type of product that we like to use, and why.  You may enjoy this, or you may not.  But I think it might be kinda fun.  Oh, and I would love input from you all too on things you like, or don't like!  I was going to start this tonight, but to keep myself from having a super long post (which I tend to have!) I will wait until later - maybe tomorrow if I have the time!

Just some quick family news - we officially started our garden today.  It is still a little too cold for some of the things we are growing, but we were able to plan some garlic and onions (red, green, and yellow).  Again, we aren't too sure what we are doing, but have gotten a lot of advice from very competent people in our church who have had gardens for years.  I will let you know how it all goes!  Hopefully we will get some veggies out of it! :-)  We also planted my Colorado Blue Spruce on Saturday.  It is a tiny thing now but I look forward to seeing it grow.  I am going to take a picture of the kids standing next to it, and plan to each year so we can compare the growth of both the tree and the kids!  I am trying to think of a name for it.  My grandma had Bruce the Spruce.  Any suggestions from you all?

Also, Libby rolled over in the night last night.  I was up with her, getting ready to give her her pacifier when she just up and rolled onto her back and looked right at me - just as surprised as I!  She has done it several times since - mostly during her afternoon nap.  This is sort of a problem because she thinks that when she is on her back, it is playtime.  So her nap was pretty non-existent today!

Well, that's all for now!

Until next time...
