Love Songs, Day 2

Ready for Day 2 of my favorite love songs?  Here it is...

Until next time....

Love Songs, Day 1

So, my whole posting every week thing hasn't gone too well, has it?  Ya, maybe soon I will get back to it.  We have a lot of major things going on right now, so I don't have much time for blogging.  Hopefully soon, though.  But, for now, I thought I would just do a fun little thing.  We are coming up on our 8th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.  I can't believe it!  Time flies!  We have done a lot in those 8 years.  We have had our joys and excitement, and our sorrow and trials.  But through it all, we have grown closer together and deeper in love.

So, I thought, leading up to Tuesday, I would post a series (ideally one a day) of "Love" songs that I like! So, without further ado, one of my favorite love songs...

(By the way, Matt has sorta made me a fan of country music.  Shhh... don't tell anyone!) :-)

Until next time....

Sunday's Song

With it being Father's Day, I thought I would share this song that is written for father's to challenge them to be there for their wife and kids.  And even though it is written by a father to fathers, it is applicable to us moms too!

Enjoy!

Sunday's Song

A great reminder to keep our eyes open to those directly around us who need to know the love of God.  We need to stop looking at the outside and see everyone as God sees them.

Sunday's Song

Starting a new thing on here.  Each Sunday (if possible) I want to share a song that Matt and I enjoy.  Some will be worship "spiritual" songs, while others will be fun long-car-ride songs.  Hope you enjoy them like we do!

Songs

I had spent about 30 minutes today typing out a post of some things that I have been thinking about.  But I didn't publish it because I wanted to walk away and come back to it later to be sure it came across okay.  But as I thought about it, I realized it was probably harsh and maybe shouldn't be posted.  So I was going to change some things on it to make it better.  But when I came back to it, I guess I didn't save it correctly because it is not there anymore.  So I am taking that as a "sign" from God that it should not be said.  Oooo... aren't you curious now what it was about?  :-)  I'll maybe tell you - someday! :-)

So, since that didn't work out, I thought I would post something encouraging.  Today was our Friend and Family Day at church.  We had a missionary of ours speak in the morning service, followed by a delicious potluck!  Matt spoke in Sunday school about "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)  In his lesson he quoted the following poem.  Some may have heard if before, but if you hadn't, please read it.  It speaks for itself:

When you thought I wasn't looking

Author: Unknown
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator,
and I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me,
and I knew that little things are special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer,
and I believed that there was a God to talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I felt you kiss me goodnight,
and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes,
and I learned that sometimes things hurt,
but it's alright to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared,
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked....
and I wanted to say thanks for all the things
I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.
Last night, we had a gospel concert at our church.  Matt's dad is an evangelist, but he is also a singer/songwriter.  He has put out 8 CDs, the 8th having just come out this year.  This concert was his kick-off concert to launch the new CD.  So he sang and we also had the High Meadow Quartet come sing.  The are from not too far from here in Maine.  It was a great night and we really enjoyed concert.  We had a great turnout and the gospel was clearly shared.  The following is one of the songs they sang, and I think it is going to become a favorite on my list.  So I thought I would share it with you all!  Enjoy!
Somewhat along the same lines, I have another favorite song that I probably listen to several times each week.  I don't think I have shared it on here before, but if I have, oops!  Its about marriage.  And the video brings tears to my eyes most every time!
Hopefully the poem and songs have encouraged you this Sunday night.  Trust you had a great day - we certainly did!
Until next time....

Home, Prayer, and a Song.

We made it home safe and sound - though a little weary.  Yesterday (Monday) we left just before 7 am and didn't pull into a hotel until 15 hours later.  The kids did GREAT, and we were so happy to have made it that far.  That made today much easier and we only had a 7 hour drive.  We are exhausted, but so very happy to be home.  There really is no place like home.  When we left last week our roof was being put on, and was about 1/4 of the way done.  When we drove up today it was so nice to see it all done and it looks great!  I haven't taken a picture yet because it is raining, but hopefully I can take a picture tomorrow.  Of course, now our charcoal roof does not match our brown and tan house, but that will be remedied in just a couple of weeks!

In the next couple of days, I will post all about the trip and some pics, but for now just know that it was a great time, although very tiring.  It didn't help that we all got sick.  I think I got the cold the worst, and its still hanging on.  I am coughing up a storm, my voice is coming and going.  When I do have my voice, I think I could sing bass in a quartet!  Ha!  But, hopefully it will all pass soon.

On to other things, please continue to pray for my friend, Amy Bixby.  She has been moved to a hospice house due to the around the clock care she needs.  There are a lot of other things involved with this (such as her oldest daughter coming down with chicken pox and all the kids being kept away from Amy so that she won't come down with shingles) which is very hard on them all.  They are just praying that the kids will get to see Amy and say good-bye before the Lord takes her home with Him.  Amy is in a lot of pain, but is still keeping her outlook to the Lord.  Please just pray for the whole family.

As I pray for Amy each day, I find myself thinking of how we really don't know what tomorrow will bring.  It brings all things in perspective.  I find myself hugging my children a few more times each day.  I make sure I say "I love you" as much as I can to all my family.  I want to treasure each and every moment as we have no idea when our breath will be our last.  That being said, I recently heard a song that I fell in love with, which I want to share with you all here.  It made me cry, which is a big deal as that doesn't happen all that often.  So just to warn you, it may bring tears to your eyes, but in a good way, I think.

Anyways, enjoy the song and have a great day.

Until next time...

A Great Song...

I've decided that every once in a while, I will post songs on here that we really like.  Here are two of my favorites that we heard for the first time a few months ago.  The first one my brother sent to us, and we immediately liked it.  What a great message it has - especially for fathers.    The second is just a fun song that we listen to at least once a day.  Liam loves to sing it, and we usually can be found dancing around the dining room table to it.  Anyway, enjoy!
